2014-02-03:
Zoe and I were walking to pick Niklas up from school on Friday when she saw some dog poop on the ground. "Hey, people! Pick up your
dog poop after when your dog poops on the ground!", she yelled. So, now the people in the greater Alcott area know to do that. Anyway,
it was a pretty busy weekend. In addition to policing the populace on poop-issues, Zoe and I went to the Chicago History Museum on Friday.
The highlight for her was the children's area where you could pretend to be a Chicago-style hotdog, jump around to generate different Chicago
related sounds and, for some reason, smell what the stockyards smelled like. She also really liked the L car from 1892 and guessing what
a bunch of stuff that was melted in the fire was before it was melted in the fire. Oh, and there was a display of pretty dresses that she
liked.
On Saturday, the kids and I went to the Target (that part was busy-busy, not fun busy) and then Niklas
went to a birthday party at the Windy City Fieldhouse which apparently involved a lot of running and the general wearing out of little kids,
so that's a plus. Meanwhile, Zoe and I went to McDonald's and then played some war, which is her card game of choice these days.
Sunday featured a tremendous meltdown by Zoe at church and then some swimming.
2014-02-16:
So Niklas started spring training for baseball last week. This corresponded with him having some sort of illness that caused him go about
his day in a zombie-esque fashion, so there was some impressively slow-motioned baseballing on his part. Meanwhile, Zoe has decided to
start hitting the ball left handed, so she's added switch hitting to her already impressive t-ball arsenal. Granted, switch hitting in t-ball
isn't going to get you a matchup advantage, but still.
We've been doing a bit of museum going of late. Zoe and I went to the nature museum a couple of Fridays ago. She was a big fan of the turtles
and the water thing where you could simulate a flood. She was less of a fan of the snakes and spiders and she hated the butterflies most
of all. I took both kids to the Chicago History Museum last Wednesday when Niklas was off of school for Lincoln's birthday. Niklas was
impressed with some Lincoln campaign props, mostly because they included a giant axe.
Also, PICTURE DUMP!
